The Charity is going forward at quite a pace. Fundraising has been really successful even though the pandemic has held things up significantly in so many areas. We are looking forward to a very busy season on the visitor front so I am sure that funds will be flowing in from the various activities that will take place around the islands.
I have to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who have worked tirelessly on the fundraising front as we are now very close to the first goal which will be announced soon.
With regard to the proposed building we have now made significant advances. A draft plan of a modular style building has been developed and we are in close consultation with the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (Treliske) on location and future lease agreements.
As many of you will be aware, Treliske is in the midst of a major reconstruction programme and we have been included as part of this development. This doesn’t mean that we will get any funding from them but we will be included in the final plan of the hospital campus which has been our wish from the start of the project. RCHT is offering lots of help in other areas and we are very grateful for their continued support and assistance. We will release more news as things progress.
Everyone on Scilly is very well aware of the desperate need for this project and I can assure you that there is a tremendous amount of hard work progressing behind the scenes to attract the grant funding and support, from both charity and business, to raise the funds needed to start the build as soon as possible.
The Trustees were hoping to have held a public meeting before now but unfortunately, Covid 19 put paid to that for the foreseeable future. In lieu of this, we will be having displays on all the islands during the season and will keep you up to date with the progress that has been made.
I thank everyone involved for the immense amount of hard work and time that is being donated to ensure that we achieve this mainland facility. I urge anyone who can offer some time, or add a skill to this project, PLEASE step forward as your input will be very gratefully received.
